Approximately 1,500 internationally-minded professionals celebrated the dawn of 2009 in style at the Wardman Park Marriott Hotel. We enjoyed a special and rare opportunity to experience an evening of music, art, and culture at the Embassy of Ukraine. The evening included a dinner buffet feast of traditional Ukrainian delicacies as well as a performance by Ukrainian pianist Pavel Gintov from Kiev. We also browsed the embassy’s rare collection of beautiful paintings and artistic pieces. We hope to see you at our next embassy reception! |

We enjoyed Champagne & Chocolate Tasting at Co Co Sala. It was a wonderful way to
experience chocolate in it's purest form. We experienced five different types of couverture in three different states: solid, semi-solid (ganache), and liquid.

We traveled to Bangladesh for a black tie gala, cultural presentation, and dinner reception at the Embassy of Bangladesh. It was a wonderful opportunity for ICDC members to meet the Ambassador of Bangladesh, representatives of World Watch, as well as other distinguished guests and ICDC members in attendance. We hope to see you at our next upcoming embassy gala at the Embassy of Ethiopia on Saturday, October 3, 2009.

ICDC members attended a very special reception at the Embassy of Romania to celebrate the entry of Romania into the European Union. The evening included a dinner reception and a piano concert performed for you by pianists from the International Society for Musically Gifted Children. |

We enjoyed a Polynesian luau at the Embassy of New Zealand to experience two distinct Polynesian cultures: The Maori though their Polynesian costumes, song, and dance - followed by a Hawaiian luau experience. The evening also featured a taste of New Zealand with Polynesian (New Zealand and Hawaiian) inspired dishes. After a spectacular Maori dance and music performance, we enjoyed a night of dancing.

We concluded the weekend with a relaxing evening of kayaking on the Potomac River followed by a picnic at our Georgetown dock overlooking the Washington monuments. You are invited to join us for our next kayaking session scheduled for Sunday September 23.

Our Friday evening sunset margarita cruises on the Potomac are a wonderful way to start your weekend. Watch the sunset and the Washington skyline come to life at a distance while enjoying a 2-hour relaxing cruise from the Georgetown Waterfront.

On the weekend of the summer solstice, we experienced a magical evening at the exquisite Grand Ballroom of the National Museum of Women in the Arts. The unforgettable Shakespearean celebration included music, food, wine and dancing to a 30-piece classical orchestra performing the world's beloved Viennese Waltzes and ballroom music. During the last half of the evening, we danced salsa, merengue, and other Latin dances to the sounds of the Origem Latin band.

Our swing vs. salsa dance lessons are one of our most popular dance events. After learning how to dance swing and salsa, we enjoyed a night of dancing to a mix of swing and salsa music. The evening also included a dance performance and mini dance contest.

We learned to play tennis with the help of expert instructors. The attendees were assigned to five different courts based on skill level. Our Languages of the World language discussion series is very popular with ICDC members who speak a foreign language. In July, we practiced out French, Spanish, and German with the help of native speakers at each table. Our next language discussion session is scheduled for Sunday, September 09.

Over 40 ICDC members took part in a hiking trip to Great Falls Park in Maryland. We enjoyed the nature and wildlife as well as the spectacular views of Great Falls. After enjoying a picnic lunch, we hiked back home. Our hiking trips are ideal for enjoying the outdoors as well as meeting other ICDC members who are outdoor enthusiasts.

We learned how to dance the Argentine Tango, as it is danced in Buenos Aires Argentina. Afterwards we enjoyed a night of tango and Latin dancing while meeting other ICDC members who love to dance. |

We had the best seats in town to enjoy the Independence Day Fireworks display. After watching a spectacular fireworks display we returned back to the dock.

Gently gliding just inches above the water on a kayak while the sun sets at a distance is a surreal experience. After enjoying the sights of illuminated Washington monuments at a distance, we kayaked back to our private dock in Georgetown for a relaxing picnic dinner while meeting and socializing with other attendees.
