Washington Monument Tour with an Overview of the Lincoln Memorial, World War II Memorial, and other Majestic Monuments - Saturday, July 16, 2016 at 1:00 PM


We begin our tour at the World War II Memorial dedicated to the 16 million Americans who served in the armed forces and civilians involved in the war effort. The memorial consists of 56 pillars and a pair of triumphal arches which surround a plaza and fountain. Following a brief discussion of the World War II memorial, your guide will discuss the Lincoln Memorial and other nearby sites from the east end of the Reflecting Pool.

From the World War II Memorial the tour will then cross over to the Washington Monument grounds where the guide will discuss its construction history, dimensions, and why the location was chosen. After entering the Washington Monument, the formal guided tour concludes when we take the elevator to the top of the Washington Monument for spectacular views of DC.
