Event Description
Experience the elegance and excitement of a Presidential vintage soiree as you meet other attendees and make new friends. The evening also includes specialty vintage cocktails with light refreshments inspired by the era. While entertaining in the fully restored rooms of this Georgian revival townhouse, you will have the opportunity to view elaborate gifts of state from around the world, important materials from Wilson’s presidency, objects from the White House, family items and personal objects. Space is limited.
In 1919, President Wilson vetoed the Volstead Act, which outlawed alcoholic beverages nationwide. Congress over-rode his veto, ushering in the age of Prohibition and the Speakeasy. Join us as we open the doors to the former President's house for an old-fashioned Speakeasy Bash. Prizes for the best 1920s attire. Light refreshments and prohibition era cocktails.
The evening begins with a champagne reception for VIP ticket holders featuring exclusive access to behind the scenes areas of the museum and rarely seen artifacts. Continue to explore as you are joined by General Admission ticket holders from 7-9pm.
President Wilson was the first US President to travel in Europe, and received numerous state gifts which (unlike the leaders of today) he was able to keep. On display are gifts from the allied heads of state including a Gobelin Tapestry from the people of France, a mosaic from Pope Benedict XV and autographed portraits of the British Monarchs. As you enjoy your evening, museum staff will be on hand in each major room to highlight artifacts from around the world.
