Event Details

Join us for a guided tour of the home of the world’s most intriguing, inspiring, engrossing and always thought-provoking modern art: the Hirshhorn Museum. Meet other ICDC members with a love of art on a journey through contemporary art in all media through the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, including highlights such as the rugged and realistic sculptures of Auguste Rodin, the brutal religious imagery in the paintings of Francis Bacon, and the famed Dada and Surrealist painter Man Ray.

Before the tour, enjoy a meal at the Smithsonian Castle café and get to know some of your fellow travelers through the strange and fascinating journey through renowned modern art. Our art gallery and museum tours are one of our most popular events and always sell out well in advance. Please reserve your tickets early.

About the Hirshhorn
The Hirshhorn Story unfolds through an animated timeline of archival images and text. The Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden is committed to acquiring and showing art that is current and topical today, as well as works with historical significance. In the past century, artists have brought their works down from pedestals and out of frames to enter the viewers' space, using common objects, video, film, and other technology to bring the everyday into art. In addition to traditional historical themes and portraiture, works in our collection address emotion, abstraction, politics, process, religion, economics, and the immediate. With these works, we strive to illuminate the complexity, variety, and relevance of modern and contemporary art.
